Who we are
The Healthcare Supply Chain Institute is a consultancy and research center that specializes in logistics and supply chain management. Our research and projects focus on improving processes and value chains in life sciences and pharmaceutical industries.
The institute is headed by Prof. Dr. David Francas and organizationally embedded in the Steinbeis Institute for Supply Chain Optimization and Digitalization in Heilbronn. We are a legally dependent part of the Steinbeis foundation, headquartered in Stuttgart, Germany. Steinbeis is dedicated to the transfer of academic findings and knowledge into business. In 2018, Steinbeis achieved a turnover of 172 million euros
In our research and projects, we closely cooperate with a network of leading researchers and specialized industry partners to complement our expertise. Our mission is to support companies, organizations, and service providers in life sciences in designing, analyzing, and optimizing their supply chains and logistics. In our work, we are committed to developing patient-centric solutions in supply chains. Head of Institute
Prof. Dr. David Francas
Prof. Dr. David Francas is professor of logistics and information systems at Heilbronn University, Germany, and director of the Healthcare Supply Chain Institute. Prior to his academic career, he worked as project manager and consultant for an international consulting group. He received his doctorate in logistics and management science from the University of Mannheim, Germany. His work has been published in several books, leading academic and industry journals. During his career, David worked with leading pharma companies such as AstraZeneca, Boehringer Ingelheim, Bristol Myer Squibb, Novartis, Roche, Vetter as well as Starbucks, Daimler, BMW, BASF, DHL, among others.
